Fit for Trips provides activity-specific strength and endurance training programs based on a proven sports-conditioning model used by professional athletes and trainers. Our goal is to get you in the best shape of your life so that you can get the most out of your adventure travel experience.

  • Fit for Trips offer adventurers two types of programs: Custom Programs which are 4-15 weeks in length and Custom-PLUS Programs which can be designed for any length of time.

Custom Fitness Program

  • Every Custom Program begins with a thorough review of your itinerary to ensure you are optimally prepared for the specific demands of your trip. Our Custom Programs are designed to get you in peak physical condition for your trip using the most advanced, time-effective techniques available. Every one of our fitness programs is expertly crafted by a Fit for Trips Coach and comes with the full support of our staff to guide you every step of the way. Custom Programs are available for any activity and all our programs come with our full money back guarantee if you're not satisfied for any reason.

Custom-PLUS Fitness Program

  • Custom-PLUS Programs go a step beyond the itinerary. Custom-PLUS programs are the ultimate solution for those who desire a completely customized program to get physically fit for their specific adventure trip itinerary and athletic goals. These programs are most suitable for those adventurers who place the highest priority on improving their fitness and performance while maintaining a balanced life that doesn't sacrifice family or career goals. It will also meet the needs of those who have past injuries or surgery and have been cleared from their doctors to participate in an exercise program, i.e., ACL surgery, ankle sprains, rotator cuff strains.
  • Our Custom-PLUS programs begin with an in-depth initial phone consultation with a Fit for Trips Coach to discuss your trip itinerary, training goals, current fitness level, medical history (including injuries or limitations) and available schedule for training. This information is used to create a personalized program that will work specifically with your lifestyle constraints so that you can achieve maximum performance results. Throughout your customized training program we will confer with you as often as you need by telephone and email.

Program Lengths

  • Every Fit for Trips program is between 4-15 weeks in length. You should choose the length of your program by counting the number of weeks until you depart for your trip.

    For example, if your trip departs 8 weeks from now, choose an 8 week program.
  • Typically a program 8-10 weeks in length has two phases of training. 12-15 week programs typically have two to three phases. Each phase adds an incremental level of intensity and complexity. As you advance to each phase, so will your fitness. Without this increase your fitness level will cease to improve and you may become bored and unmotivated to train. Most importantly, you will not be optimally prepared for your adventure.
  • Most adventurers will benefit from programs that are longer in duration in order to properly build the desired trip-specific strength and endurance. For that reason, a 12 week program is better than an 8 week program and an 8 week program is better than a 4 week program.
  • 4 week programs are aggressive in nature and should only be attempted by adventurers already possessing a high level of fitness. This includes those who currently perform a weekly resistance training program that incorporates various forms of squats and lunges as well as high intensity cardiovascular exercise.
  • Regardless of which program you choose, each one is guaranteed to get you fit for your trip.
